Today – in the presence of Dr Reiner Haseloff, Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt – Andreas Feicht, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), announced the decision to grant EUR 34 million in financial support to the representatives of the consortium of the “Bad Lauchstädt energy park” as the “proving ground of the energy transition”.
At “Bad Lauchstädt energy park”, the project partners want to research the production, storage, transport and economic efficiency of green hydrogen under real conditions on an industrial scale.
A 20-kilometre gas pipeline belonging to doing hydrogen partner ONTRAS is being repurposed to transport the green hydrogen produced in the course of the project. In the future, it will transport hydrogen to chemical plants in neighbouring Leuna and, in the second phase, potentially also connect to planned cavern storage facilities. Making use of the growing hydrogen infrastructure such as the doing hydrogen project proposed by the IPCEI, the “Bad Lauchstädt energy park” can be integrated into the European hydrogen infrastructure.
